The of individuals who have scammed Americans out of millions of dollars is a long one, indeed.

EDDY VILLA NOVA
I was blessed to hear those guests give their testimonies. I was going through a rough time and some, not all, but some of those guests were real and had very helpful things to say. I didn’t like the really square aspect of it. In the early 70s hippies were giving up drugs and showing up in churches with their guitars. So many new gospel songs come forth. Lots of people were changed from being dirty and messed up; just lost and directionless to following the Lord and becoming responsible. As for the Bakker’s, they obviously were seduced by fame and money. That doesn’t have to happen, but in their case they went crazy. I know. I saw them a number of times. They were inexperienced, not very intelligent and not sophisticated at all. These people ended up having gold plated faucets and bathtubs. Like TBN they had horrible, gaudy furniture. It makes perfect sense that they made such horrible personal and business decisions. When they grew up they were in a denomination in which you didn’t read much of anything. You didn’t have TV, you didn’t go to the movies and you only knew a small number of people who attended the same church that you did. Worldly temptation was now available to them in unlimited quantities! They messed with alcohol, drugs, sexual perversion, and they became materialistic! They truly went worldly. They surrounded themselves with celebrity Christians. Those people were mostly untaught baby Christians. The Bakker’s were impressed by these people. They were influenced by them. They adopted their values. The Bakkers now had butlers, house keepers, a limo and chauffeur (who was suited and dressed like one from the 1930s, complete with cap. He opened Tammy’s door and lifted her southern belle type parasol over her head)! Most of their staff were yes people. The Bakkers were riding a rocket to ruin. Their decisions were clouded, strange, misguided. Their work spun out of control. When Bakker’s scandal was exposed, they freaked out and handled the situation all wrong. Their destruction was thought to have killed off that bizarre form of religious television. But from the same TULSA OK cell came others even more strange. After that group came thousands, it was like cell division, it has spread all over the earth: The prosperity message, and the idea that you can sin and it’s just fine with a God, has created the mega contemporary church movement. That mess is another story.
