CLEAVAGE (3)
Turkey has taken a giant leap backwards in their attempt to join the European Union after government intervention saw an asset-rich female TV presenter fired for baring too much of her decolletage. Gözde Kansu, pictured above, apparently copped a verbal come-uppance from a ruling Justice and Development (AKP) party spokesman after baring some extra cleavage on a television show called Veliaht ("Crown Prince"). AKP mouthpiece Hüseyin Çelik didn't name Kansu, but he did slam someone's apparel on the show as "extreme". "We don't intervene against anyone but this cleavage exposure is too much and it's totally unacceptable." With the target of the AKP's wrath quickly identified, Veliaht producers said Ms Kansu might not ever appear again due to a "busy schedule" although they later confirmed that she'd been shown the door. Turkey's killjoy meddling mouthpiece, Çelik attempted to backtrack on X where he said, "I never named a show or a person. It was the media who alleged the names. It's simply an unacceptable amount of jub!"
The outrage over Ms. Kansu's cleavage may seriously hinder Turkey's attempts to enjoy the warm embrace of the European Union because Turkey must first align itself with the 35 chapters of EU law in order to become a member of the European Union, known on the street as the "Acquis Communautaire". As you can see here, Turkey is not doing all that well conforming to the statutes.
Interestingly, countries who wish to join the EU must be described as "generally aligned with the Acquis" on the matter of "Free Movement of Goods". We would suggest that given Turkey's attitude towards the free movement of Ms Kansu's extra-ordinary natural marvel, Turkey's current position is in reality "totally incompatible with the Acquis Communautaire". ®
