Georgia On My Mind
Ray Charles first appeared on a Billboard chart in 1949, when as part of the Maxin Trio with G.D. McKee and Milton Garred, he charted his first single with "Confession Blues." It reached No. 2 on the R&B chart, then called the Most-Played Juke Box.
In 1952, Charles signed with Atlantic Records and went on to top Billboard's pop, country, R&B, jazz, and dance charts.
In the early 1960s, after leaving Atlantic Records to sign with ABC–Paramount, he negotiated for ownership of his own master recordings and he also established his own labels. Tangerine came first, which later evolved into Cross Over Records.
Ray Charles penned nearly 200 songs. He also operated his own publishing companies, Tangerine Music and Racer Music.
On the Billboard Hot 100, Charles had 80 hits between 1958 (the year the chart began) and 1990, when "I'll Be Good to You" became his last Hot 100 single, reaching No. 18. His biggest hit, "I Can't Stop Loving You", spent five weeks at No. 1 in 1962.
He also topped the Hot 100 with the singles "Hit the Road Jack" and "Georgia on My Mind".[3] Among all acts, he charted the third-most singles on the Hot 100; only Elvis Presley (with 108) and James Brown (91) had more.[1]
On Billboard's R&B chart, Charles had 86 hits, including 11 chart-toppers such as "I've Got a Woman", "What'd I Say (Part 1)", "Hit the Road Jack", and "You Are My Sunshine."[1]
Charles also reached No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1985 with "Seven Spanish Angels", a duet with Willie Nelson.
The single appears on Charles' duets album, Friendship, which reached No. 1 on Top Country Albums.
His 1962 album, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, became his first album to top the Billboard 200.[1]
In 1990, Charles had a No. 1 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart with "I'll Be Good to You", a collaboration with Quincy Jones and Chaka Khan.

Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through (the whole day through)
Just an old sweet song keeps
Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
I said Georgia, Georgia
A song of you (a song of you)
Comes as sweet and clear
As moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
I said Georgia, oh Georgia
No peace I find (peace I find)
Just an old sweet song keeps
Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still, in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Woah, Georgia, Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just an old, sweet song keeps
Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
I said just an old sweet song keeps
Georgia on my mind

Happy New Year
Here is a cover of the ABBA recording sung by Anne Reburn.
"Happy New Year"
No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
Feeling lost and feeling blue
It's the end of the party
And the morning seems so grey
So unlike yesterday
Now's the time for us to say...
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I
Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway...
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I
Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor
It's the end of a decade
In another ten years time
Who can say what we'll find
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of twenty-nine...
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbour is a friend
Happy new year
Happy new year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try
If we don't we might as well lay down and die
You and I

Hello
I've been alone with you inside my mind
And in my dreams I've kissed your lips a thousand times
I sometimes see you pass outside my door
Hello, is it me you're looking for?
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You're all I've ever wanted, and my arms are open wide
'Cause you know just what to say
And you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much - I love you
I long to see the sunlight in your hair
And tell you time and time again how much I care
Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow
Hello, I've just got to let you know
'Cause I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying - I love you
Hello, is it me you're looking for?
'Cause I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying - I love you
"Hello" is a song by Lionel Ritchie who wrote the music and lyrics for this pop tune. Taken as the third single from his second solo album Can't Slow Down (1983), the song was released in 1984 and reached number one on three Billboard music charts: the pop chart (for two weeks), the R&B chart (for three weeks),[3] and the Adult Contemporary chart (for six weeks). The song also went to number one on the UK Chart for 6 weeks.
The song later inspired a lawsuit by songwriter Marjorie Hoffman White, who accused Richie of plagiarizing her 1978 composition "I'm Not Ready to Go".A musicologist concluded Richie 'completely incorporated' Mrs. White's melody into 'Hello,' said Ira Leibowitz, Mrs. White's attorney. The suit seeks to ban Richie from singing 'Hello,' halt all production and distribution of recordings and sheet music, and provide Mrs. White with royalties. The royalties could amount to 'well over $1 million because of the song's popularity, Leibowitz said.
Mrs. White immediately noticed the resemblance between her song and 'Hello' when she first heard the hit song two months ago, the attorney said. Also named as defendants were the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, which licenses use of the song, the Brockman Music Co. of Los Angeles, holder of the copyright, Motown Record Corp. of Los Angeles and MCA Distributing, Inc. of Manhattan, distributor of the tapes and records.

Here's To Life
No complaints and no regrets
I still believe in chasing dreams and placing bets
For I have learned that all you give is all you get
So give it all you've got
I had my share, I drank my fill
And even though I'm satisfied
I'm hungry still
To see what's down another road beyond the hill
And do it all again
So here's to life
And every joy it brings
So here's to life
To dreamers and their dreams
Funny how the time just flies
How love can go from warm hellos to sad goodbyes
And leave you with the memories you've memorized
To keep your winters warm
For there's no yes in yesterday
And who knows what tomorrow brings or takes away
As long as I'm still in the game I want to play
For laughs, for life, for love
So here's to life and every joy it brings
Here's to life
For dreamers and their dreams
May all your storms be weathered
And all that's good get better
Here's to life, here's to love, here's to you
May all your storms be weathered
And all that's good get better
Here's to life, here's to love, here's to you
Songwriters: Phyllis Molinary and Artie Butler
Artie Butler wrote:
I had a great relationship with my father. As old age started to do what it does, I had a difficult time seeing him slip into the final stages of his life.
To find comfort at times I did what I’ve done all of my life. I turned to my music to get me through. It has never failed me nor let me down.
I remember watching George Burns on the Tonight Show. He was in his late eighties at the time. Johnny Carson asked “George .. what do you think about life?” George answered “I think the second half is going to be better.” How profound his answer was. I was so affected by it. This man in his golden years looked at life and embraced it with open arms. I ran to the piano and in about twenty minutes I wrote the melody and came up with the title “Here’s To Life” and a few lines of the lyric.
I wrote the song through the eyes of an older man who was looking back at his life and reminiscing, and yet being totally optimistic about whatever time he had left. I didn’t realize it then, but I was really writing about my father. I tried several lyric writers but none of them pushed my buttons.
I finally tried Phyllis Molinary. I gave her the title and gave her a few of the lyric lines I had written and told her what I felt the song should say.
She did a great job. The song is very emotional for me. It’s not a sad song. It’s poignant and bittersweet. There are times when
I think of the song and I just break out into tears. Sometimes they’re tears of joy, and sometimes not. I hear from people all over the world telling me how they love the song and how it affects them. What a great feeling it is knowing that a song that came
from inside of me touches the inside of so many others.
I remember getting a call from a close friend of mine who is a very well known actress. She said she was in her car and she had
just heard “Here’s To Life” and she had to pull off the freeway because her eyes were filled with tears. Even though she knew the song, she said she had to call and tell me how it affected her. I think you have to pay some dues in your life before you can understand a song like this, let alone write one. Unfortunately, my dad never got to hear it. But who knows .. maybe I’ll get the chance to play it for him in person someday. I do hope they tune the piano up in heaven when I get there.
Johnny Mandel called and asked me to fax him a copy of the music. He said he was recording it with Shirley Horn and wanted to invite me to the session. A week later I showed up at the studio and there was a huge orchestra there. Johnny was the producer and arranger. “Here’s To Life” was the last song on the session. The orchestra rehearsed Johnny’s arrangement a few times and when they were ready to record, the red light went on and the magic started. To this day, I can’t find the words to explain the emotional impact of Johnny’s incredible arrangement and Shirley’s breathtaking vocal happening together for the first time. I closed my eyes and as I listened, I kept seeing my father's smiling face. Perhaps he was finally hearing it after all. I would like to think so. I sat in the corner of the control room with tears of joy running down my face. I remember when the song was finished, the entire orchestra listened to a playback and wept. There stood fifty people listening and crying. What a thrill for a songwriter
to have his song come back to him for the very first time in such splendor.
Artie Butler
I consider Johnny Mandel’s arrangement of “Here’s To Life” to be a musical oil painting. When I close my eyes and listen to it, I see all the magic that only music can bring. His arrangement is just that magnificent. I sent him a letter to thank him and to tell him how incredible his arrangement was. About two months later I heard the record on the radio and I was so affected by it again, I sent him another copy of the same letter. I just changed the date.

How Am I Supposed To Live Without You
I could hardly believe it
When I heard the news today
I had to come and get it straight from you
They said you were leavin'
Someones swept your heart away
From the look upon your face, I see it's true
So tell me all about it, tell me bout the
Plans you're makin'
Then tell me one thing more before I go
Tell me how am I suppose to live without you
Now that I've been lovin' you so long
How am I supposed to live without you
How am I supposed to carry on
When all that I've been livin' for is gone
I didn't come here for cryin'
Didn't come here to break down
It's just a dream of mine is coming to an end
And how can I blame you
When I build my world around
The hope that one day wed be so much
More than friends
And I don't wanna know the price
I'm gonna pay for dreaming
When even now it's more than I can take
And I don't wanna face the price
I'm gonna pay for dreaming
Now that your dream has come true

I Can't Make You Love Me
Turn down the lights
Turn down the bed
Turn down these voices inside my head
Lay down with me
Tell me no lies
Just hold me close, don't patronize
Don't patronize me
'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these final hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't
'Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't
I'll close my eyes, then I won't see
The love you don't feel when you're holding me
Morning will come and I'll do what's right
Just give me till then to give up this fight
And I will give up this fight
I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these final hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't

If I Saw You Tomorrow
The day that you left me
I'll never forget
My well had run dry
And my pillow was wet
It took time to heal
But I honestly feel
If I saw you tomorrow I'd be fine
The weight of your hand
And your kiss on my cheek
Will l play in my hand
Like a disc on repeat
It took time to get past it
But I know I got past it
If I saw you tomorrow I'd be fine
And if I saw you I'd be fine
The places we'd meet
All over the city
The faces we'd greet
Would look green with envy
We had a good thing goin'
But it feels so good knowin'
If I saw you tomorrow I'd be fine
The smell of your scent
I just couldn't handle
The sound of our tune
Used to leave me in shambles
It was no easy task
But I found peace at last
Yeah if I saw you tomorrow I'd be fine
If I saw you I'd be fine
I prepared for tomorrow yeah I'd be ok
But I happened to see you today

If You Could See Me Now
Live recording of Sarah Vaughan singing, "If You Could See Me Now" with Frank Collett on piano and Harold Jones on drums.
If you could see me now you'd know how blue I've been
One look is all you'd need to know the mood I'm in
Perhaps then you'd realize I'm still in love with you
If you could see me now you'd find me acting brave
And trying awfully hard to make my tears behave
But that's quite impossible I'm so in love with you
You'll happen my way on a memorable day
And the month will be May for a while
I've tried so hard but cannot play the part
Without my heart behind the smile
The way I feel for you I never could disguise
That look of love was written oh so plainly in my eyes
I know you'd be mine again if you could see me now

Hank Jones on piano, Chauncey Welsch on bass, Al Caola or Mundell Lowe on guitar
Recorded March 20, 23 and 29, 1956 in new York

If You Go Away
If you go away, on this summer day
Then you might as well take the sun away
All the birds that flew in the summer sky
When our love was new and our hearts were high
When the day was young and the night was long
And the moon stood still for the night birds' song
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away
But if you stay, I'll make you a day
Like no day has been or will be again
We'll sail the sun, we'll ride on the rain
We'll talk to the trees and worship the wind
Then if you go, I'll understand
Leave me just enough love to hold in my hand
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away
If you go away, as I know you will
You must tell the world to stop turning till
You return again, if you ever do
For what good is love without loving you
Can I tell you now as you turn to go
I'll be dying slowly till the next hello
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away
But if you stay I'll make you a night
Like no night has been or will be again
I'll sail on your smile I'll ride on your touch
I'll talk to your eyes that I love so much
But if you go I won't cry
Though the good is gone from the word goodbye
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away
If you go away as I know you must
There'll be nothing left in the world to trust
Just an empty room full of empty space
Like the empty look I see on your face
I'd have been the shadow of your dog
If I thought you might have kept me by your side
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away

I'll sail on your smile I'll ride on your touch
I'll talk to your eyes that I love so much
But if you go I won't cry
Though the good is gone from the word goodbye
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away
If you go away as I know you must
There'll be nothing left in the world to trust
Just an empty room full of empty space
Like the empty look I see on your face
I'd have been the shadow of your dog
If I thought you might have kept me by your side
If you go away, if you go away, if you go away

If I Never Sing Another Song
In my heyday young girls wrote to me
Everybody seemed to have time to devote to me
Everyone I saw all swore they knew me
Once upon a song main attraction, couldn't buy a seat
The celebrity, celebrities were dying to meet
I've had every accolade bestowed on me
And so you see
If I never sing another song
It shouldn't bother me
I had my share of fame
You know my name
If I never sing another song
Or take another bow I would get by, but I'm not sure how
Always posing, but you love it all
Though you have to learn to act like you're above it all
Everything I did the world applauded
Once upon a star framed citations, hung on every wall
Got a scrapbook full of quotes, I can recall them all
There were times I felt the world belonged to me
And so you see If I never sing another song it shouldn't bother me
I had my share of fame You know my name
If I never sing another song
Or take another bow I would get by, but I'm not sure how
But I'm not sure how

I Just Fall In Love Again
"I Just Fall In Love Again"
Dreaming, I must be dreaming
Or am I really lying here with you?
Baby, you take me in your arms
And though I'm wide awake, I know my dream is coming true
And, oh, I just fall in love again
Just one touch and then it happens every time
There I go, I just fall in love again and when I do
I can't help myself, I fall in love with you
Magic, it must be magic
The way I hold you and the night just seems to fly
Easy for you to take me to a star
Heaven is that moment when I look into your eyes
And, oh, I just fall in love again
Just one touch and then it happens every time
There I go, I just fall in love again and when I do
I can't help myself, I fall in love with you
I can't help myself, I fall in love with you
Dreaming, I must be dreaming

I'll Be Your baby Tonight
Close your eyes, close the door
You don't have to worry any more
I'll be your baby tonight
Shut the light, shut the shade
You don't have to be afraid
I'll be your baby tonight
Well, that mockingbird's gonna sail away
We're gonna forget it
That big, fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon
But we're gonna let it
You won't regret it
Kick your shoes off, do not fear
Bring that bottle over here
I'll be your baby tonight

It Had To Be You
Why do I do, just as you say, why must I just, give you your way
Why do I sigh, why don't I try - to forget
It must have been, that something lovers call fate
Kept me saying: "I have to wait"
I saw them all, just couldn't fall - 'til we met
It had to be you, it had to be you
I wandered around, and finally found - the somebody who
Could make me be true, and could make me be blue
And even be glad, just to be sad - thinking of you
Some others I've seen, might never be mean
Might never be cross, or try to be boss, but they wouldn't do
For nobody else, gave me a thrill - with all your faults, I love you still
It had to be you, wonderful you, it had to be you
Why do I sigh, why don't I try - to forget
It must have been, that something lovers call fate
Kept me saying: "I have to wait"

It's All In The Game
Many a tear has to fall
But its all in the game
All in the wonderful game
That we know as love
You have words with him
And your futures looking dim
But these things your heart can rise above
Once in a while he wont call
But its all in the game
Soon hell be there at your side
With a sweet bouquet
And hell kiss your lips
And caress your waiting fingertips
And your heart will fly away

It's Five O'Clock Somewhere
I'm Afraid The Masquerade Is Over
Your eyes don't shine like they used to shine
And the thrill is gone when your lips meet mine
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love
Your words don't mean what they used to mean
They were once inspired, now they're just routine
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love
I guess I'll have to play Pagliacci
And get myself a clown's disguise
And learn to laugh like Pagliacci
With tears in my eyes
You look the same, you're a lot the same
But my heart says "no, no, you're not the same"
I'm afraid the masquerade is over
And so is love, and so is love
I guess I'll have to play Pagliacci
And get myself a clown's disguise
And learn to laugh like Pagliacci
With tears in my eyes
You look the same, you're a lot the same

It's Now Or Never
It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
When I first saw you
With your smile so tender
My heart was captured
My soul surrendered
I'd spend a lifetime
Waiting for the right time
Now that you're near
The time is here at last
It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
When I first saw you

It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
Just like a willow
We would cry an ocean
If we lost true love
And sweet devotion
Your lips excite me
Let your arms invite me
For who knows when
We'll meet again this way
It's now or never
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late
It's now or never
My love won't wait
It's now or never
My love won't wait

This single is the second best-selling single by Elvis Presley. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee in 1960, it iwas also the number eight on a list
of best-selling American singles of all time. "It's Now or Never" is based on the Italian ballad "O Sole Mio".
Writers Aaron Schroeder and Wally Gold penned this song in 20-30 minutes after Freddy Bienstock, Elvis Presley's music publisher,
requested a song from them. It became the biggest song of their career.
Priscilla Presley stated in 2017 that of all Elvis Preseley's recordings, "It's Now Or Never" was Elvis Presley's favourite.
O Solo Mio
Me viene quase 'na malincunia
Sotta fenesta toia restarria
Me viene quase 'na malincunia
Sotta fenesta toia restarria
Quanno fa notte, e 'o sole se ne scenne
Ma n'atu sole cchiù bello, oi ne'
'O sole mio sta in fronte a te
'O sole, 'o sole mio, sta in fronte a te
Sta in fronte a te!

Imitation Of Life
What is love whout the giving Without love you're only living An imitation, an imitation of life Skies above in flaming color Without love they're so much duller A false creation, an imitation of life Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin Would the song of a lark be half as sweet Would the moon be as bright above Every day would b imitation, an imitation
What is love
Without the giving
Without love you're only living
An imitation, an imitation of life
Skies above in flaming color
Without love they're so much duller
A false creation, an imitation of life
Rob from always on the run
Would the song of a lark be just as sweet
Would the moon be as bright above
Every day would be grey and incomplete
Without the one you love
Lips that kiss can tell you clearly
Without this our lives are merely
An imitation, an imitation of life
What is love
Without the giving
Without love you're only living
An imitation, an imitation of life
Skies above in flaming color
Without love they're so much duller
A false creation, an imitation of life
Rob from always on the run
Would the song of a lark be just as sweet
Would the moon be as bright above
Every day would be grey and incomplete
Without the one you love
Lips that kiss can tell you clearly
Without this our lives are merely
An imitation, an imitation of life
I'm Never Gonna Fall In Love Again
I've been in love so many times
Thought I knew the score
But now you've treated me so wrong
I can't take anymore
And it looks like
I'm never gonna fall in love again
Fall in love
I'm never gonna fall in love
I mean it
Fall in love again
All those things I heard about you
I thought they were only lies
But when I caught you in his arms
I just broke down and cried
And it looks like
I'm never gonna fall in love again
Fall in love
I'm never gonna fall in love
I mean it, I mean it
Fall in love again
I gave my heart so easily
I cast aside my pride
But when you fell for someone else, baby
I broke up all inside
And it looks like
I'm never gonna fall in love again
That's why I'm singing
Fall in love
No, I'm never gonna fall in love
Please don't make me
Fall in love again
Thought I knew the score
But now you've treated me so wrong
I can't take anymore
And it looks like
I'm never gonna fall in love again
Fall in love
I'm never gonna fall in love
I mean it
Fall in love again
All those things I heard about you

It's Magic
You sigh the song begins
You speak and I hear violins. It's magic
The stars desert the skies
And rush to nestle in your eyes. It's magic
Without a golden wand or mystic charms
Fantastic things begin when I am in your arms
When we walk hand in hand
The world becomes a wonderland. It's magic
How else can I explain those rainbows
When there ain't no rain. It's magic
Why do I tell me myself
These things that happen are all really true
When in my heart
I know the magic is my love for you
Music and Lyrics by Julie Styne and Sammy Cahn
I Will Remember You
I will be walking one day
Down a street far away
And see a face in the crowd and smile
Knowing how you made me laugh
Hearing sweet echoes of you from the past
I will remember you
Look in my eyes while you're near
Tell me what's happening here
See that I don't want to say good-bye
Our love is frozen in time
I'll be your champion and you will be mine
I will remember
I will remember you
Later on
When this fire is an ember
Later on
When the night's not so tender
Given time
Though it's hard to remember darlin'
I will be holding
I'll still be holding to you
So many years come and gone
And yet the memory is strong
One word we never could learn
Good-bye
True love is frozen in time
I'll be your champion and you'll be mine
I will remember you
So please remember
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you

I Wish You Love
I wish you bluebirds in the spring
To give your heart a song to sing
And then a kiss, but more than this
I wish you love
And in July a lemonade
To cool you in some leafy glade
I wish you health, and more than wealth,
I wish you love
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So, with my best, my very best
I set you free
I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all, when snowflakes fall
I wish you love
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So, with my best, my very best
I set you free
I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all, when snowflakes fall
I wish you love
But most of all, when snowflakes fall
I wish you love
